FEBRUARY – BLACK HISTORY MONTH
February 5th, 6 – 9 pmSuper Bowl XLII
Super Bowl XLII, the 42nd annual edition of the Super Bowl in American football, will determine the champion of the National Football League (NFL) following the 2007 regular season. The game is scheduled to be played on February 3, 2008 at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
In the American Corner Debrecen you can watch the game on Tuesday evening with live commentary in Hungarian by Tibor Glant (NAD, IEAS). If you feel like having crackers and drinks in the meantime, there is a store nearby where you can get almost anything.

We will get prepared for several performances during the spring. If you would like to be part of a nice community and create something new, come and meet us at the orientation.

Presidents Day falls on the third Monday in February. The American Corner will have a screening for this occasion related to presidents, presidency and politics. John Travolta gained 30 pounds to play the Governor running for president.

February 21, 6 pm The Presidential Elections -presentation and discussion
Eric V. Gaudiosi, political counselor to the U.S. Embassy in Budapest gives a short presentation in English concerning the elections. Afterwards a round table discussion will take place moderated by Tibor Glant, Chair of the North American Department, IEAS, University of Debrecen. The other participants in the discussions are all American guest professors currently teaching at the University of Debrecen: Donald E. Morse, Murry R. Nelson, Charles W. Sullivan III. and John D. Keiser.
The discussion is open to the public, we welcome everyone interested in American politics and its impact on world politics.

A presentation and discussion about the Black History Month and the Presidential Elections.
Jan Krc, press attaché takes a one-day trip to Debrecen to talk to high school students in the morning and to give a short presentation that evening about the African-American Heritage and the Presidential Elections. Afterwards a Discussion Time will take place when Mr. Krc will reply to every question concerning the above mentioned topics.
